1. introduction

The Hermitage Educational Company Ltd is a registered Charity formed in June 2000 for the specific purpose of promoting, constructing and maintaining the children and disabled persons golf course soon to be constructed at the Braid Hills Drive in Edinburgh.

Andrew Coltart - patronThe project to develop a children and disabled persons golf course in Edinburgh began some 5 years ago when members of the Hermitage Educational Committee concluded that there was a need for a children's golf facility in Edinburgh.

"Why wasn't there a golf facility in Edinburgh where children could experience the fun of golf in a safe, controlled and suitable environment?"

GO-SWINGThe search began for a suitable site, discussions were entered into with landowners, and after much effort and commitment from a growing group of committee members the project began to take shape.

This project is the first of it's kind in the UK because, although there are facilities for children elsewhere, there is no course constructed to the standards envisaged for this course, nor with the provision for specific catering for disabled persons needs. The course map shows the location and layout of the new course and the location of the education centre.

In addition to catering for golf, there will be an education facility on the local heritage & ecology. Also walkers and joggers will be able utilise boundary paths to be constructed adjacent to the fence line around the course.

The goodwill attached to the project is significant and we hope that you will agree that this is a worthwhile project deserving support.

The project, now called 'GO SWING', has now been given planning consent and is supported by Sport Scotland, Edinburgh Council, the R&A and the Scottish Golf Union. For more information on how you can get involved click here.

Andrew Coltart - patorn of Go Swing

Ryder Cup player Andrew Coltart has agreed to be the project Patron. The committee are delighted that a player of Andrew's international calibre and profile has agreed to support our very worthy project to offer young children and the disabled the opportunity to play golf. We look forward to working with Andrew to introduce as many young people to the fun golf has to offer.
